Remembering our dearly departed
Every November, we take time to remember specially our loved ones who have gone before us. During the month of the Holy Souls, we pause in reflection and remembrance of family and friends who are no longer with us, and pray especially that they are at peace in their eternal rest in Heaven.
The MSC Novena of Masses to the Holy Souls takes place every year from November 2nd to November 10th at the Sacred Heart Church in Cork. At this time, we invite our mission friends and benefactors to send us a list of the names of those whom they wish to remember, and these names are then placed upon the altar to be included in the daily Masses and prayers of our MSC priests.
All of these Novena Masses, along with our daily Masses throughout the month of November, are streamed live from the Sacred Heart Church hereĀ on our website. This is a lovely opportunity to pay tribute to the memory of our departed loved ones in a very special way, and we welcome the participation of our friends from the MSC community throughout the world.
The month of November opens with our Novena of Masses to the Holy Souls, and closes with a beautiful celebration of those whose memory we hold dear in our annual Light Up a Memory Mass. As we fondly remember those who are no longer with us, we take comfort in the great work that is being done in their honour; donations to the November Masses go towards providing financial and material aid to our missionaries and the communities they serve, offering invaluable aid to vulnerable people who struggle daily with extreme poverty and profound suffering. Thanks to the help of our mission friends, we can make a real difference to the lives of many.

All are welcome to join us in a blessed and prayerful Novena, and to submit the names of departed friends, family, and loved onesĀ for remembrance. We would greatly appreciate your support for our ongoing mission projects, and in gratitude for your contribution, we will be glad to remember your intentionsĀ at our daily Novena Masses. The MSC Novena to the Holy Souls takes place annually from November 2nd to November 10th at the Sacred Heart Church on the Western Road in Cork.
Novena to the Holy Souls 2024
Our 2024 Novena Masses will take place at the following times:
- Saturday, November 2nd at 12.00 noon
- Sunday, November 3rd – Friday, November 8th at 10.00am
- Saturday, November 9th at 12.00 noon
- Sunday, November 10th at 10.00am
