facebook MSC vocations ministry is getting ready for an amazing year in 2013

Vocations ministry in 2012 hit the ground running. From the launch of our website in February we’ve been around the world and back again and we’ve taken part in loads of exciting festivals, events and celebrations. 2013 however is going to be bigger, better and even more exciting!

We’ll continue with many of the events of last year. There’ll be a pilgrimage to Lourdes with the Irish Pilgrimage Trust after Easter. The exploreAway discernment programme will run through Spring, as six young people consider their call to religious life and priesthood. The Knock Summer Festival and the Brightlights WYD gathering are among the highlights of the summer.

This year we’re going to begin the first stage of our Camino to Santiago de Compostella. We’re planning on going from St. Jean to Logrono, passing through the Pyrenees into the beautiful Riojan Province of Northern Spain. This week long pilgrimage on foot is going to be amazing. It will be for adults between the ages of 20 to 35 and will take place in early June.

The MSC Volunteering Programme will launch in June, with a three month experience in the Holy Family Centre in South Africa. We’re looking to engage four adults between the ages of 25 and 45 who want to take part in something extraordinary, by working in a care home for children who have been orphaned by HIV / AIDS or TB. Ideally candidates will have a background in a practical skill, like teaching, nursing, building, carpentry, electrician, plumbing, etc. For more info click here.

The main event of 2013 of course is going to be World Youth Day in Rio. We’ve got a group of ten young people traveling to Brazil from Ireland and England for almost two weeks. There we’ll join over 3,000,000 Catholic young people celebrating their faith in music, liturgy and craic. It’s going to be an opportunity to meet people from all round the world, as well as linking in with Missionaries of the Sacred Heart from Venezuela, Canada, Indonesia and Brazil.

If you are interested in any of these events or if you have news about something we should be part of let us know by clicking here. Together we’ll make 2013 a year to remember!
